Safety Campaign April - June 2026
Hand & Finger Injury Prevention:
Protecting Your Most Irreplaceable Tools
Maintaining the safety of our workforce is a top priority, and our upcoming safety campaign focusing on Hand & Finger Injury Prevention (April – June 2026) highlights a critical area of concern. Our hands and fingers are the most versatile and frequently used tools in any construction, electrical, or mechanical task, making them highly susceptible to workplace accidents.
Campaign Overview: What You Need to Know
The core message of this campaign is simple: “Hands & Fingers are Irreplaceable Tools”. While we can repair machines and replace equipment, we cannot replace the biological precision of our hands. This campaign is designed to increase awareness among all employees—especially those in high-risk technical fields—about the daily hazards that threaten their physical well-being.
To stay safe, every team member must be proactive rather than reactive. This means identifying hazards before starting a task, strictly following isolation protocols, and ensuring that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly every single time.
Key Safety Guidelines:
The campaign outlines 10 essential points to ensure every employee will return home with your health intact. Here is a brief explanation of each item:
- Identify potential hazards: Always analyze the specific risks associated with the job you are about to perform.
- Be aware of pinch points: Stay alert to locations where hands or fingers could be caught between moving and stationary parts.
- Identify hot surfaces: Recognize and stay clear of equipment or materials that could cause thermal burns.
- Watch for rotating and moving parts: Exercise extreme caution around machinery that spins or moves during operation.
- Mind sharp edges: Be conscious of the shape and sharpness of the objects you are handling to avoid cuts.
- Caution with automated equipment: Be aware that some machines may start automatically or be operated from a remote location.
- Avoid loose clothing and jewelry: Do not wear dangling clothes or jewelry that could get pulled into machinery, and never operate equipment without its safety guards in place.
- Verify energy isolation: Ensure that all power sources are properly locked out and tagged out (LOTO) before starting work.
- Use proper gloves: Wear gloves that are specifically suited for the task and ensure they fit your hands correctly.
- Maintain focus: Stay alert and avoid daydreaming or distractions while working; your full attention is your best defense.
By following these steps, we can ensure our hands and fingers “last a lifetime”.
