In our daily construction, electrical, and mechanical operations at PT Gearindo Prakarsa, busy working environments—such as fabrication workshops, piping areas, and project sites—present real, everyday hazards. Heading into the fourth quarter of 2026, PT Gearindo Prakarsa is launching a focused Safety Campaign: “Recognize and Control Pinch Point Hazards” (Kenali dan Kendalikan Risiko Terjepit).

The core message of this campaign is simple: “Work Safely, Boost Productivity” (Kerja Aman, Produktivitas Meningkat). We all agree that getting the job done efficiently and on schedule must never come at the expense of safety. Pinch-point and crushing hazards—especially during pipe handling, fitting, and installation—are serious risks. A single moment of distraction can lead to severe injuries, broken bones, or even the permanent loss of limbs.

Building on Our Previous Safety Campaigns

This October–December 2026 campaign is a natural progression of our earlier safety initiatives throughout the year:

1. In the second quarter (April–June 2026), our campaign focused on Hand & Finger Injury Prevention: Protecting Your Most Irreplaceable Tools, instilling basic habits to protect our fingers and hands.
2. In the third quarter (July–September 2026), we focused on Manual Lifting Safety, training everyone on proper lifting techniques, safe handling of heavy loads, and good ergonomics.

Now, as we close out 2026, we are bringing these lessons together to tackle pinch points directly. Moving and aligning heavy pipes requires correct lifting techniques combined with sharp awareness so hands, fingers, and feet are never caught between moving and stationary objects.

Four Key Control Measures: Recognize, Follow, Protect, and Communicate

To make this campaign effective on the ground, every worker is expected to practice four key actions daily:

1.      Recognize the Hazards (Identify Pinch Points)

Always spot the trap points before touching any material. Common hazards include spaces between pipes and steel structures, movement caused by line pressure or machine operation, confined work areas, unstable or unsupported pipes, and missing machine guards. Watch out for rotating and moving parts across all machines and tools in the workshop.

2.      Follow Safe Procedures

Always work according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA). Ensure machine guards and barrier fences are securely in place before starting work. Never remove safety guards or modify tools without proper authorization.

3.      Wear the Right PPE

Personal Protective Equipment is your last line of defense. Always wear your required PPE correctly: standard coveralls, impact/pinch-resistant work gloves, safety footwear, safety helmets, and eye protection.

4.      Communicate and Work as a Team

Keep your work area clean and clear of unnecessary clutter. Display clear warning signs—“Caution: Pinch Point Area” (Hati-Hati Area Terjepit)—around dangerous spots. When lifting or positioning pipes, maintain clear eye contact and verbal signals with your team. Never hesitate to speak up and warn a coworker if you see an unsafe condition or action.
