Safety Campaign Period: October – December 2025
Burnout and Fatigue
As we approach the end of 2025, the workload in various projects often intensifies. At PT. Gearindo Prakarsa, we recognize that our most important safety tool is a well-rested and focused mind. For the fourth quarter (October – December 2025), our safety campaign is centered on “Careful on Burnout and Fatigue.”
Fatigue is more than just feeling tired; it is a physical and mental state that reduces alertness, slows reaction times, and leads to errors in judgment. In high-risk environments, fatigue can be as dangerous as any mechanical failure.
- Recognizing the Red Flags
Understanding the symptoms of burnout and fatigue is the first step toward prevention. We encourage all employees to look out for the following signs in themselves and their colleagues:
- Physical: Constant tiredness, headaches, dizziness, or blurred vision.
- Mental: Difficulty concentrating, memory lapses, and slower decision-making.
- Emotional: Increased irritability, lack of motivation, or feeling “detached” from the job.
- Safety Risks: Microsleeps (momentary lapses in consciousness) or a sudden “near-miss” during routine tasks.
- Strategies for Prevention
Managing fatigue is a shared responsibility between the company and the individual. To stay safe this quarter, we are emphasizing the following practices:
- Quality Rest: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep. Recovery happens during rest, and it is the only way to “recharge” your internal battery.
- Hydration and Nutrition: High-intensity work requires consistent fueling. Drink plenty of water and choose balanced meals to avoid energy “crashes.”
- Structured Breaks: Don’t skip your designated rest periods. Taking a short break away from the workstation can significantly improve mental clarity.
- Manage the Workload: If you feel overwhelmed or “burned out” by the volume of tasks, communicate early with your supervisor to adjust priorities.
- The “Buddy System” and Reporting
In our industry, we look out for one another.
- The 2-Minute Rule: Before starting a high-risk task, take 2 minutes to assess your mental state. If you feel “drained,” speak up.
- Open Communication: We foster a culture where reporting fatigue is seen as an act of professionalism, not weakness.
- Supervisor Support: Leads and managers are trained to recognize signs of exhaustion in their teams and to adjust schedules to prevent over-extension.
“A Rested Worker is a Safe Worker”
As we close out the year, let’s ensure we finish with the same energy and safety standards we started with. Our employees’ health and well-being are the foundation of our success.
